Taking The Plunge!

If you are a PADI Divemaster or have an equivalent certification from another organization and have the passion and motivation to introduce people to scuba diving from beginner courses up to Divemaster then the PADI IDC is what you’re looking for. The first step is to become a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) and our team at Sierra Madre Divers are here to help you achieve it with the most up-to-date, high-quality, fun and relaxed IDC.

Why Take The Course?

They say if you love your job you’ll never work a day in your life. We’re not quite sure if that is exactly true, but it is a nice sentiment. What we do know is that although working in the dive industry is not easy, it is a lot of fun and PADI Instructors are the most sought-after dive professionals worldwide because they’ve completed the program that sets the standard for training dive professionals.

Who else gets to call the beach their office? Or see marine life as their co-workers? Not many people, that’s for sure. Being a PADI Instructor not only gives you a chance to work in amazing locations across the world, but also to inspire others, and help protect our oceans.

About The Course

The PADI IDC starts at home with PADI eLearning which covers the academic part of the course and allows you plenty of time for in-water practice and revision when it comes to IDC. We also have useful study materials to share with our candidates to help prepare you for dive theory study, so signing up early can be a benefit eliminating the need for evening studies during the IDC.

Our 14 day program includes workshops for teaching dive theory, preparing confined water, open water and knowledge development presentations, scheduling courses, in-water control with and without assistants and in-depth group discussions about understanding PADI standards, sales, marketing, paperwork and online processing procedures. It also includes the 1 day prerequisite EFR Instructor Course and additional Emergency Oxygen Provider Specialty Instructor Course.

Upon completion of the IDC, you will be well prepared to pass the 2 day Instructor Exam (IE).

The Benefits Of Our IDC

The aim of the PADI IDC conducted by Sierra Madre Divers staff is to develop you as a PADI Instructor, who will be prepared to begin teaching immediately after completing the IDC and passing the IE, with proper training and an in-depth understanding of laws, standards and correct, conservative teaching techniques.

We also offer our candidates a complementary 3 day IDC preparation which is highly recommended for candidates to prepare for theory exam and dive skill demonstration before the IDC. This is to avoid extra study hours and stress during the IDC.

Protect Our Oceans

Divers are at the forefront of ocean protection, since we get to witness the impacts we are having on the ocean first hand. When you, as a PADI Instructor (we know you’ll pass your IE after all as course directors across the world remind everyone taking the course, “It’s easy”), get to introduce people to the wonders of life underwater you are in a unique position to reinforce the need to protect our oceans.

Therefore, our goal is not only to train PADI Instructors that can teach people to master dive knowledge and skills, but also to influence the attitudes of your students towards the entire dive industry and the marine environment that we call our office everyday. Not only will you play a role in defending our oceans, you will make life long friendships with a diverse group of people from all over the world. You’ll watch as nervous beginners become confident, knowledgeable amateurs. You’ll even get the chance to watch those amateurs become professionals and begin the cycle again.
